This is a partial rewrite of the 1963 cult classic 'Sky Men', written and performed by Geoff Goddard and produced by Joe Meek. It's combined with 'Space Lights', a song written for my old band Quick Colors, with a third new part knitting these sections together.
Zach Schnitta wrote the original lyrics and melody to 'Space Lights', the melody of which has been slightly altered in this song.
lyrics
Sky men, sky men
Where do you come from?
Where are you going to?
Sky men, sky men.
When I walked out into the field,
Me and my darling.
We saw a bright light it was standin there still
She grabbed my arm then.
Bright colored lights and the sound danced before us
While out above there sounded a chorus.
And I reached to cover the pores and the
holes in my mind as they called us “Oh brothers the times near”
I see a space light comin, it’s comin for me.
I see a space light comin, it’s comin for me.
Sky men, sky men
Where do you come from?
Where are you going to?
Sky men, sky men.
When I walked out into the field
Me and my darling
We saw us a light
It was standin there til
We started runnin
Taken at night when the silence of dreams
Can obscure and enlighten the words riddles slip.
“I am The Drighlist” he caught up our figures in lies
and endurahs to call back his space ship.
I see a space light comin, it’s comin for me.
I see a space light comin, it’s comin for me.
I see a, I see a, I see a space light comin.
